What is LiDAR Scanning?
LiDAR scanning has revolutionized the architectural/engineering and design industries. Using scanners with state-of-the-art technology, 3D reality is captured and transformed into files used in design software. The files are 3D models which allow designers to begin drafting, designing, and to obtain measurements and other data in much less time than traditional methods.
How it Works
With the push of a button, a 3D laser scanner can complete a full 360 degree scan in less than 30 seconds, processing 680,000 points of reflected light per second. These processed points of light are referred to as “point cloud data”, a comprehensive digital 3D model of 3D reality. The scanner obtains photo imagery as well, resulting in truly immersive data that enhances decision-making across the project lifecycle.
